All Power America APC4016-A Air Compressor
Obviously designed with mobility in mind, the All Power America APC4016-A Air Compressor is compact, lightweight, and is equipped with two large heavy-duty rubber tires. To make it even more convenient when moving the machine from one work station to another, it is fitted with a chrome finished inverted U-shaped handle you can use to lift one end as you drag it along on its wheels.
The APC4016-A has a short hotdog tank with a rather big diameter that is oriented horizontally. It has a capacity of 6 gallons and is strong enough to hold compressed air with pressures reaching up to 115 PSI.
Sitting on top of the tank is the oil-lubricated air pump. Owing to its use of oil, it generates less friction even as the piston slides up and down within the cylinder. In addition to this, the oil helps minimize noise from the pump as it absorbs a good portion of the sound waves generated.
The pump is activated by an electric motor with a peak power of 3.5 horsepower. For continuous operation, this is reduced to 2.5 horsepower. It includes an overload protector causing it to shut in case of power surges. It is also protected from overheating by a mechanism that turns power off as it detects excessively high temperatures. When the machine has cooled down, the same mechanism automatically restarts it. The motor is perched on the pump, and is connected to it via a direct drive. A plastic shroud partially covers both the motor and pump for protection.
The air outlet mechanism stands on the tank. It includes two quick-connect outlets flanking the air outflow regulator, and two gauges –one for measuring the air pressure inside the tank and another for the rate of air outflow. At 40 PSI, airflow is 5.2 CFM, while at 90 PSI, the relevant figure is 4.2 CFM.
