Briggs and Stratton 074010 Pro Series Air Compressor

Powered by the company’s own 6.5 HP Series 875 engine with a displacement of 205 cc, the Briggs and Stratton 074010 Pro Series Air Compressor can quickly and easily attain its maximum operating pressure of 145 PSI. With its high-flow cylinder head, it generates a gross torque of 8.75 foot-pounds. Its compact overhead valve design, cast iron sleeve, and steel-backed bronze bearing with Teflon coating assure cool and clean operation, fuel efficiency, and long engine life. The engine runs on gas and thus is suited for construction sites, camping grounds, or any place where electric power is unavailable or unreliable.
The 875 engine powers the belt-driven, oil-lubricated air pump. It has two cylinders that are made of cast iron making them strong under compression. Nominal RPM is rated at 1,700. To check its oil level, it is fitted with an oil sight glass allowing a quick check, and a dipstick for a more accurate measurement.
Compressed air is stored in two horizontal hotdog tanks with a combined capacity of eight gallons. Volumetric flow rate of air at 40 PSI is 11.0 SCFM, while at 90 PSI the figure is 9.3 SCFM. A tank pressure gauge monitors compressed air level inside the tank.
The compressor has two quick connect air outlets. Flow of air from the tank into attached hoses is regulated by a pressure control knob, and monitored with a regulated pressure gauge incorporated with the air outlets.
The Briggs and Stratton 074010 Pro Series Air Compressor has a wheelbarrow design with an 8-inch pneumatic tire for easy maneuvering around the job site. The engine sits on a platform alongside the air pump, while a grilled cage isolates the belt and the wheel drives for protection. Underneath the platform are the two air tanks which, in turn, rest on two square bars perpendicular to the tanks. Rubber feet are bolted to the bars to prevent the compressor from slipping and sliding while the engine is running.
