Briggs and Stratton Elite Series Air Compressor Model 074002

With a powerful 6.5-horsepower engine, the Briggs and Stratton Elite Series Air Compressor Model 074002 is perfectly suited for contractors who run their compressors all day, perhaps five or six days of the week.

The air compressor is fitted with an internal combustion overhead valve engine that runs on gas. This allows its use in the field or in new construction sites where electric power is as yet unavailable. While it has a one-gallon tank capacity, the compressor has an idle control feature that slows down engine RPM when the tanks are filled to maximum operating pressure, thus saving on fuel, reducing noise, and contributing to the engine’s longevity.

The air pump consists of cast iron cylinder that features sleeves. These help in cooling the pump and reducing over-all weight. The pump is oil lubricated. This helps in keeping friction low which prolongs its service life. The oil also helps seal any space in between the piston and the cylinder.

Compressed air is stored in two hotdog air tanks with a capacity of 8 gallons. These can contain air with a maximum pressure of 145 PSI. Airflow at 90 PSI is 9 CFM. Decreasing pressure to 40 PSI results to an increase in CFM at 11.

The engine transmits the power it generates to the air pump via a belt drive. This is secured with a grilled enclosure to prevent accidents. Pump revolution is kept low for less noise as well as wear and tear.

Both engine and air pump are mounted on a platform that, in turn, rests on the two horizontal air tanks. Handles are attached to the tanks on one end while a pneumatic tire is mounted on the other giving it a wheelbarrow design. This facilitates moving and maneuvering around the job site.

Access to the gauges is convenient for easy monitoring of air levels. The regulator is fitted with dual air outlets for multiple tool operation. To quickly bleed unused air at the end of your work, the tanks are equipped with a ball-valve tank drain.
