DeWalt D55167 Oil-Free Portable Air Compressor

With an operating noise level of only 78 dBA, the DeWalt D55167 Oil-Free Portable Air Compressor is only as noisy as a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner. If your work is some 50 feet away from it, you may not even require hearing protection even if you have to work for an extended period.
The motor and air pump are encased in a black plastic that is mounted on top of the air tank. The tank is hotdog type, installed horizontally, and painted in golden yellow. The colors of the casing and the tank, therefore, complete the trademark colors of DeWalt.
The design of the air compressor is compact, with the tank having a length of approximately 40 inches while the motor and air pump assembly is wider than the tank at 16.5 inches. Overall height is 30 inches.
Underneath one end of the tank are two semi-pneumatic tires with wide tracks that do not require maintenance. At the other end is a thick flat bar stand with rubber feet. While the tires allow easy movement of the compressor, the rubber feet at the front keep it from sliding away even on slippery surfaces. Above the tank is a tubular handle for pulling the machine, providing additional protection, and wrapping the electric cord when not in use.
The tank has a capacity of 15 gallons, with a maximum pressure of 200 PSI. Since most power tools run at about 100 PSI, run time is longer. Its air flow of 4.8 SCFM at 90 PSI allows the compressor to quickly recover when its tank is depleted.
The 1.6 HP motor is oil-free thus requiring minimum maintenance. It activates the pump via a belt drive. Owing to its consistent amp draw, you can operate it with a 12 gauge extension cord, provided you do not exceed 50 feet.
A metal console panel is affixed to the casing of the motor and air pump assembly. Two pressure gauges, one for the tank pressure and the other for the air outflow, are mounted on the panel. A high flow coupler and regulator are set beside the gauges allowing maximum run time for your pneumatic tools.
