The Hitachi EC12 is a robust air compressor with a two-horsepower direct-drive electric motor allowing speedy refill of air inside the tanks. It has twin stack hotdog air tanks with a total maximum capacity of four gallons. Maximum pressure is rated at 125 psi. Air delivery at 40 psi is 4.2 CFM, at 90 psi, this is reduced to 4.1 CFM, while at 100 psi, the figure is 3.6 CFM.
The pump is oil-lubricated which is more conducive to a prolonged service life compared to non-oil types. Also, the oil absorbs some of the noise that is inevitably generated by the running of the pump resulting in a more quiet equipment. As an added convenience, the oil dipstick and drain valve are easily accessed. Eight ounces of synthetic compressor oil and a pressure gauge is included with the purchase.
Weighing only 60 pounds and equipped with a carrying handle, it is easy to move the Hitachi EC12 to and around your work area. Although it is relatively light, it is built to be durable. Its interior and fan are made of heavy-duty metal. Its cylinder is made of cast iron.
To protect the interior components from damage, an intake filter is installed. This can be easily removed and cleaned by the removal of only one screw. It also has a thermal protection mechanism that automatically shuts the compressor if it detects any problem such as an overload.
