Hitachi EC2510E Gas Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor

Powered by a gasoline engine, the Hitachi EC2510E Gas Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor is intended for use in new construction sites or in the field where electric power may not be available.
Strong and sturdy bars with rubber bumpers support the twin hotdog tanks of the compressor. The tanks lie horizontally alongside each other, with a large pneumatic wheel in between them at one end. At the opposite end are handlebars, attached to the outer sections of the tanks, effectively transforming the entire machine into a wheelbarrow. Atop the tanks is a base plate which incorporates the controls, air outlets, and gauges of the compressor. The engine and the pump are perched on the base plate.
The air compressor is driven by a 5.5-horsepower Honda GX160, an industrial grade OHV engine with overhead valves (OHV). This powerful engine is attached to the air pump via a belt drive that is encased in a steel cage for the protection of users. The pump is made of solid cast iron. This makes it resistant to wear and deformation thus assuring a long life.
The pump is oiled to minimize friction among its moving parts as well as to keep temperature down. Also, the oil helps to absorb noise that is inevitably generated by the pump. In order to properly monitor oil levels to prevent lockup and damage, a large oil level site glass is mounted on the pump.
An attractive feature of the Hitachi EC2510E Gas Oiled Twin Pontoon Compressor is the throttle control. Instead of using cable for throttle adjustment, the EC2510E uses air, thus eliminating the problem of breaking and crimping cables.
The twin tanks have a combined capacity of 8 gallons of compressed air at a maximum pressure of 145 PSI. At 40 PSI, air delivery is at 10.9 CFM; at 90 PSI, the figure is 9.3 CFM; and at 100 PSI, this is further reduced to 9.0 CFM.
