Ingersoll Rand SS3J5.5GH-WB Air Compressor

Powered by a robust Honda 5.5 HP GX160 Series engine, the Ingersoll Rand SS3J5.5GH-WB Air Compressor delivers compressed air that is sufficiently strong to simultaneously run multiple air tools. The engine runs on gasoline, making it possible to be used in new construction sites or other areas where there is no available electric power. With a tank that holds 0.8 gallons, refilling is infrequent. It is favored by contractors and serious do-it-yourselfers for its known durability and quiet operation.
The Honda engine is coupled with an air pump using a belt drive that is encased in a shroud to protect users from accidental injuries. The pump is constructed with 100% cast-iron cylinders and frame. It is oil-lubricated to help minimize the effects of friction resulting from its moving parts as well as to absorb some of the noise they generate. With this design, it can run continuously for hours without experiencing any problems.
The combined work of the engine and pump generates compressed air with a maximum pressure of 135 PSI. This is stored in a pair of horizontal hotdog tanks. At maximum pressure, air flows at 10.7 CFM, while at 90 PSI, the flow is 11.8 CFM.
The twin tanks rest on two perpendicular steel beams. With their combined capacity of 8 gallons, the engine has plenty of time to run on idle before it needs to power up the air pump. In between the tanks is the platform on which the engine and pump are mounted. On one end of the tanks is a large wheel while on the other end is a pair of handles, which make the entire compressor set-up a wheelbarrow design. This means it is convenient to move around the workplace.
The gauges, regulator, and dual quick connects are quite accessible, making reading the pressure of air inside the tanks and that of the air going out to the air hoses, adjusting the pressure, and connecting the air hoses convenient.
Dimensions of the Ingersoll Rand SS3J5.5GH-WB Air Compressor are 43″ W x 18″ D x 26″ H. It weighs 175 pounds.
