With a frame and two hotdog tanks laid horizontally colored bright orange, the Powermate Contractor CTA5090412 Air Compressor makes a highly visible equipment even amid the usual clutter of a construction site.
The tanks are spaced apart from each other, with the pump and motor sandwiched between them. Carrying handles rise from the bottom of the tanks on both sides of the compressor, which makes moving it easy and convenient.
The air compressor is powered by a 5-horsepower Honda engine with overhead cams and valves. It runs on gasoline and as such, it can be used in new construction sites where electricity may yet be unavailable.
Using a direct drive system of transferring power from the engine to the air pump, pulleys and belt drives are eliminated. This means less power loss and also less moving parts to maintain.

The compressor delivers a maximum pressure of 155 PSI to the twin tanks. At 90 PSI, airflow is rated at 5.0 CFM, while at 40 PSI it is increased to 6.9 CFM. The tanks have a capacity of 2.0 gallons each which helps reduce the frequency of kick-ins.
With dimensions of approximately 25″ D x 21″ W x 19″ H, the Powermate Contractor CTA5090412 Air Compressor is small enough to fit into the trunk of a mid-sized car. And with a weight of 74 pounds, it is easy for two people to carry it around.
